2005 Annual Report

Hope In Action was founded in March, 2005. The primary mission of providing short-term assistance to people devastated by economic challenges, famine, drought, floods, war and other disasters was robustly fulfilled.

The volume of gift-in-kind donations for the 9-month fiscal year greatly exceeded the projected amounts.  There was a strong response by generous donors for relief aid to people devastated by the Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina and the Pakistan earthquake. Disaster and hunger aid totaling $15,294,757 were generated and distributed in the following 13 nations:

Burkina Faso
Cambodia
Dominican Republic
Guatemala
Haiti
Honduras
India
Indonesia
Mexico
Niger
Russia
Sri Lanka
U.S.

Distributions were made at orphanages, schools, medical clinics, feeding facilities, refugee camps and to economically-challenged persons in urban areas. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, distributed items included shelf-stable food, vitamins, OTC medicines, personal care items, clothing, blankets and tents.  Over half of these products were used in Hurricane Katrina relief.

Efficiency: Over 99% of the total 2005 Hope In Action revenue benefited people needing assistance.
