Pakistan Earthquake Disaster Aid
Hope In Action provided emergency disaster aid to survivors of the massive earthquake that caused widespread destruction in the northern Himalayan Mountains of Pakistan on October 8, 2005. Relief supplies included tents, medications, blankets, ready-to-eat meals, vitamins, nutritional bars, pasta and high-protein, meal-replacement cereal.
Disaster Response
Short-term relief efforts were hampered by damaged bridges and rockslides blocking roads, but helicopter support provided by the Pakistani military enabled critical relief aid to be distributed in the Neelum Valley.
The first relief supplies to reach 500 survivors in the remote village of Sacha, Pakistan were provided by Hope In Action.
Disaster aid was also provided for Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Rawalakot areas where devastation was particularly severe.
